The majority of the AIESEC trainees in Germany at one point during their stay will be invited to a number of so called country presentations. One of the trainees will collect a few images and stories from their homeland, perhaps music and food if they really get into it, and they will present their country to anybody willing to come and learn. It's one of the really nice bonuses that you get as a trainee, you're living in another country, but you also learn all about the countries of the other trainees. In October, I got the chance to see one of these presentations, except this time it was actually about Germany. The AIESEC local committee in Bonn organized a night of presentations, eating, even singing. This was one of the points that really made it different. Somebody had found a children’s songbook, and taught all the trainees, people gathered from ten other countries, and together we did our best to sing along to such German children’s classics as ‘All My Little Ducklings”. It's all well and good to make all your own observations about another country and people by living there, but sometimes what is really interesting is to see how a country's people view themselves.
